It is important for businesses to keep a track on their operating costs, especially as it could result in huge profits for them later. Of all the different operation costs, the most important one is fuel expenditure. This is because transport, delivery and haulage companies seem to spend huge amounts on fuel costs as compared to other operational costs. But with the introduction of fuel cards, these companies can make a huge difference between simply surviving and being profitable.
How fuel cards can help reduce fuel costs
• Giving employees fuel cards will make sure that the employees can always buy fuel for the company vehicle, no matter where they are.
• They eliminate the need to give employees money to buy fuel. In addition to this, transactions are recorded, which means you will get all the necessary information about your company’s fuel transactions.
• You can also track the amount of fuel that your vehicles consume and see which routes your drivers are taking depending on the designated filling stations that they use.
These things can help keep a track on how much fuel is being used every month and can offer ways to reduce the fuel consumption of vehicles. In addition to this, fuel cards can be limited to the amount of fuel that can be bought. This gives company owners more control over fuel costs and can result in a lot of savings.

Fleet management requires you to dedicate a lot of time towards the monitoring of your vehicles so they are on time and within deadlines. With the help of fleet tracking systems, managers are able to monitor some of the vital workings of these vehicles. These include operator behaviour, account management and fuel usage.
Vehicular fuel card tracking is an efficient and foolproof way to ensure optimum usage of fuel. Fuel card tracking is a certain way to monitor unwarranted usage of fuel. Fuel cards enable managers to set purchase limits. This is a great thing for managers since fuel cards ensure optimum usage of fuel.
Another importance of fuel cards in fleet tracking is their ease of use. A driver is never short of cash since the fuel card allows payment at the end of the month.
Fuel card deals are both customised and competitive in price. They can be designed to have any limit, depending on your company’s individual needs.
They are also hugely efficient in terms time and money because of their ease of use and the ease of reporting.
Thus fuel cards are ideal for large fleets as they bring order to the company’s fuel management.

Today, the majority of people use credit cards but they usually believe that they do not need a fuel card as well. There are certain similarities in a fuel card and credit card but both of them have their unique advantages. Both credit cards and fuel cards eliminate the need for carrying cash all the time. One of the major advantages of using a fuel card is that it allows you to purchase diesel, petrol and other fuels, all at discounted rates.
Due to the ongoing economic crisis, it is very important to save as much as money as you can and using a fuel card is just one way to help you make considerable savings on fuel purchases. If your company owns a fleet of vehicles used for transportation purposes, having a fuel card is the ideal way to go. With the use of fuel cards, you will not have to give cash to your drivers all the time. You will also get invoices of every transaction with tax shown separately. This proves to be very useful for businesses as it simplifies the tax recovery process.
Fuel cards can be programmed to purchase one or more types of fuel depending on your needs. As these fuel cards work on Smartchip technology, they are accepted by major fuelling stations across the UK, which is one of the major advantages of using them. Using fuel cards, you can get cheap diesel and petrol. Due to all these advantages, they are becoming increasingly popular with individuals as well as businesses.

The AA has reported that between May and June, the average price of petrol increased by almost 5p, which is on record the second highest monthly increase.
The increased prices are making it difficult for small businesses to cope and have especially affected couriers and van drivers. While budgets all over the country are already tense, many businesses are feeling the pressure of the increased rates at the current time.
A survey that was recently conducted by the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) showed that 79% of those that were interviewed were of the opinion that their businesses would be negatively affected due to the increase in fuel duty by the Government.
The AA said that considering the recent rises in fuel prices, refilling a 50 litre fuel tank would now amount to an additional £2.49 which will be a huge blow to those couriers and van drivers that were looking to limit outgoings during the economic slowdown.
Many companies are looking for ways to reduce their fuel consumption and one effective way they have found is by using fuel cards. While companies that want to track their fuel expenses have started using these fuel cards, others are using navigational technology to save fuel when travelling to destinations.

Shipping companies, police departments, furniture companies and many other small businesses that rely on their fleet of vehicles to carry out their day to day business are switching to fuel cards to help them track and reduce their fuel costs. Usually, all the expenses pertaining to the vehicles are approved by the fleet manager but fuel cards can help gain control over fuel costs.
Using fuel cards to gain more control over fuel expenses
Measuring fuel costs of individual vehicles
Fuel cards make it possible to record every purchase of fuel and even monitor the vehicle’s overall maintenance. This helps a great deal when measuring the fuel expenses of a particular vehicle in the fleet. The rising cost of fuel makes fuel cards indispensable.
Fuel purchasing control
Fleet managers or operators can set purchasing controls on fuel cards to track the consumption of fuel in fleet vehicles. These controls include gallon restrictions, number of fuel transactions in a day or week and product type. In addition to this, fleet managers can decide specific filling stations where the cards can be used and this can decrease or eliminate unauthorised fuel transactions too.
The good thing about fuel cards is that they are available for all size of businesses that use fleets of vehicles to run their services. Fuel cards can have pre-set controls which managers can customise according to the needs of the business.

The fluctuation of fuel prices has become a common thing these days. Unfortunately, even if the fuel price goes down when the price of oil is lower there is often no reduction offered at the pumps. Recent information reveals that the prices of fuel rose by almost 5p starting from the middle of June. This would make this recent rise of fuel prices the second highest increase ever in petrol price history.
In such hard times, if you want to buy cheaper fuel that is below the market price you should opt for fuel cards. By using a fuel card when you buy fuel you purchase it at a slightly lower price every time. Although the difference is only a few pence, the amount saved over a period of time can be quite substantial.
Apart from saving some of your hard earned money, fuel cards are also useful in several other ways. Fuel cards allow cashless transactions and hence you no longer have to carry cash or give it to your fleet drivers for refuelling purposes. You can also use fuel cards to limit your fuel consumption based on a specific budget. So, use a fuel card and enjoy the many benefits.

Petrol prices have gone up consistently in the last few months and the coming months are not promising any positive changes either. Haulage companies and commercial organisations that own a fleet of vehicles are thus finding it rather hard to keep their costs low. Petrol and diesel cards can help such organisations greatly.
Petrol and diesel cards are like special credit or debit cards that can be used for buying petrol anytime and anywhere nationwide. Petrol cards and diesel cards offer fuel at a cheaper rate.
When you buy petrol using a petrol or diesel card the price that you pay is slightly lower than the market rate. Although the price difference is not huge, you still save some money on every single transaction. If you add up the savings on every transaction done for the entire month, the figure turns out to be substantial.
In commercial organisations the drivers have to refuel regularly and there is a fair chance that there might be some fraudulent activity and cheating. As petrol cards allow cashless transactions, the drivers do not have to handle cash anymore which means the company can keep track of all payments and curtail fuel expenses.
With the fuel prices constantly on a rise, the only way to keep your fuel expenses lower is by using fuel cards. You can keep track of the fuel purchases done by your fleet drivers and even limit them if needed.

Fuel is one of the biggest expenditures for any company that operates a fleet of vehicles. These companies then, are always on the lookout for means to cut down on fuel expenditure. Moreover, it can also become quite difficult to keep a track on the fuel spending habits of every driver in the fleet. With rising fuel costs, there is an increased amount of pressure on fleet managers to make sure that their fleet is fuel efficient. One excellent way of making this happen is by using fuel cards.
Fuel cards enable a vehicle to be filled with fuel without paying then and there. This can benefit fleet owners to a great extent as they will not have to give drivers any money on a daily basis for refueling the vehicles. Moreover, the frequency of fuel bills can also be determined by the company. You can receive individual bills which will enable you to keep track of the fueling habits of your drivers. This will prevent any discrepancies.
Fuel cards can generally help you have a good amount of control over the fuel consumption habits of your fleet. Thus, by using a fuel card from a good service provider, you can often save money on your annual fuel outgoings. It will also help you have better control over your fleet.

With the rising costs of fuel, companies that depend on a fleet of vehicles to carry out their business are the ones that are facing the most problems. This is because while others can use alternative and cheaper means of transport, deliver and transport companies have no option but to pay the current price for fuel. Due to this, haulage companies are looking for a more affordable ways of operating their business and have found it in fuel cards.
How do fuel cards work?
Fuel cards can help control the purchases of fuel because these can have a limited amount of money or a limited amount of fuel that can be purchased on the card. When a purchase is made, the fuel card, like a regular credit card gets swiped and depending on its feature, either the price of the fuel is deducted or the amount of fuel will get deducted.
How fuel cards can help businesses
Using fuel cards can provide benefits that buying fuel with cash does not.
• Due to the limits that can be set on fuel cards, whether it is the amount of fuel that can bought, transactions per day or litres per day etc., you can be assured of cost savings
• Companies can exercise more control on their employees through fuel cards since every transaction is recorded and unauthorised transactions can be avoided
• It also saves the trouble of providing employees with money and later making accounts of fuel transactions
Fuel cards are ideal for companies of all sizes, big or small, that have fleets of vehicles as they provide excellent fuel tracking which can help cut operation costs; a big saving to companies.

The latest reports on fuel prices states that they will rise. This came after OPEC, the oil cartel said it will not increase fuel production until oil prices rise to £60 a barrel. The Oil Minister for Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed al-Abdullah was the one who revealed the news. Currently, oil is being traded at £43 per barrel.
The price of crude oil has risen at least by 60 percent so far this year and this was after oil prices plunged due to a decrease in demand that came from the global economic crisis.
With reference to oil prices, Sheikh Ahmed said that the increase in oil prices has not been the outcome of a rising demand for it. Instead, it comes from investors buying crude oil as security against the weakening US dollar.
He also said that in terms of an economic recovery the numbers have no connection with the rise of oil. The statement was made in an attempt to explain why OPEC, who supplies around 40 percent of oil around the world, was cautious about increasing production.
Until fuel production increases and prices decrease, the worst affected will be haulage companies. This is the main reason that these companies are being encouraged to use petrol cards and diesel cards. The use of petrol cards and diesel cards can provide haulage companies and other users with some savings on fuel prices.
